MiddBIN Is Here: Your Closet Just Became Currency

Those clothes sitting untouched in the back of your closet are no longer “just in case” pieces; they are potential wardrobe upgrades or your next Venmo notification. As college students, we are constantly balancing tight budgets while trying to keep our style in rotation. At Middlebury, beyond the once-a-semester Clover Magazine thrift pop-ups, there is a huge gap in local clothing commerce. That changes today with the launch of MiddBIN.

MiddBIN is a student-to-student marketplace built specifically for Middlebury. Think Facebook Marketplace meets Depop, but curated for our campus community. It is a centralized platform where students can buy and sell clothing, dorm goods, electronics, textbooks, and all the random but essential items that define college life. Instead of posting in scattered GroupMe chats or hoping someone sees your Instagram story, MiddBIN brings everything into one organized, campus-only space designed to make reselling easy and accessible. Our team only wants to promote campus transactions, so we will not be taking a transaction fee; we'll just match you with your newest hoodie, going out top, or fridge.

The impact goes beyond convenience. Selling unused clothing is an easy way to make extra cash without picking up more hours at work. At the same time, buyers get access to affordable pieces that already fit Middlebury’s unique style. Because the marketplace is local, transactions are quick and easy. Meet outside Proctor, at Davis, or in your dorm lobby. No shipping, no strangers, just students supporting students.

MiddBIN also encourages a more circular campus culture. Instead of letting clothes sit unworn or end up in landfills, pieces stay in rotation within the community. Going abroad next semester? Sell your winter gear. Need a jacket for Winter Carnival? Buy one for a fraction of the retail price. End-of-semester dorm cleanouts? List it instead of tossing it. We at MiddBIN want to reframe fashion at Middlebury as something sustainable rather than wasteful.

Your closet is no longer storage for your old clothes; it is an opportunity to be sustainable and spread your style! Before you buy something new or let that jacket collect dust, it might be time to list it on MiddBIN. We can't wait to have Middlebury students making extra cash and continuing the thriving style on campus. Follow our Instagram @MiddBIN for updates.
